Making in-store displays

I've been back in the workshop this week making new display stands for some lovely new retailers.

It's always lovely to get back to making something by hand - and it's been a while since I've done any woodwork.

We made some stands a while back for our trade shows, but this new design feels like a big upgrade with shiny new branded plaques and brass bar step to hold a single pre-stitched passport cover.

Sharing what we got up to at the workshop to make these beauties...

Firstly chopped up a couple of planks of maple wood.

Drilled holes in for the brass bar and oiled them up to bring out the grain and that lovely warm colour of the maple.

I used the hand-planer to make a subtle chamfered edge (also providing some nice photogenic wood shavings) and inserted the brass bars to each block.

Measured and marked the front to locate the screws for attaching the branding.

These gold plaques turned out great, with our branding laser-etched.

Pre-drilled the screw holes and attached the plaques to front of each stand.

And there they are...

If you're a retailer, we would be happy to provide a stand to display a pre-stitched sample in-store. Just get in touch to find out more!
